Ruth Gumnit – Chief Technologist
Ruth founded Art of Mac in 2007. A certified Apple technician since 2004, she was a partner in All Things Macintosh which served the Bay Area for more than a decade. Ruth has a long history in technology. She began her studies in digital electronics in 1981 and studied computer programming in the mid-1980′s, all the while earning her B.A. and M.F.A. in filmmaking. Ruth is an award-winning filmmaker whose work screens internationally. She has also taught filmmaker at the college level. Ruth’s interest in computers and filmmaking merged in the 1990′s as film editing on the computer became the industry standard. She was also an early adaptor of the internet, working in the the web industry from 1994 – 2004.
As with all Art of Mac technicians, Ruth takes pride in taking complex technical issues and making them easy to understand and use.
Helga Sigvaldadóttir – Technician
Helga is a native of Iceland. Having earned an Associate Degree in Natural Science in Iceland, Helga started a pre-med program at the University of Iceland. In 1987, she visited the Bay Area for the first time, and a year later, moved to San Francisco to start school at the University of San Francisco and Academy of Art College. In 1992, she received a Bachelor of Fine Arts in documentary photography. She has worked as an Apple Technician since 2006. In addition to working with Art of Mac, Helga runs her own photography business.

Rob Kelly consults regularly with Ruth regarding business development and entrepreneurship.
